About two years ago I created this shotgun as modeling practice. It’s not the best design, as I think some parts are too flimsy looking, and there’s too much negative space, but I got a decent amount of experience incorporating Shapr3D into my workflow. One of the questions I wanted to answer with this project was “what if I take a very basic thumbnail directly into 3D?”.
It turns out concepting directly in 3D was very doable, albeit a bit slower than in 2D. That said, it’s a lot easier to experiment with different shapes and forms. These are some of the lessons I took with me when working on Sharkmob’s Exoborne a couple months later.
