When I was waiting for the art test for the Wardog Collective to come up, I thought they were going to ask me to design a far futuristic or alien weapon, considering I never really did that before. They ended up tasking me with designing a ‘volt knife’, but before I knew that, I drew up this rifle as practice.
I wanted to achieve three things with this one. One, was to implement more curvature, because I practically never did that before and it’s oftentimes seen in far future designs.
Two was to give animation a good thought; which parts would be moving or visibly doing something?
And three was to have techy bits showing.
So here’s what I came up with. It’s a focused particle beam energy rifle, powered by a fuel cell in the handguard and a battery pack in the back. (Still kinda counts as bullpup, right?)
So shown here are both the overheat / quick cool down (top) and the firing (bottom) animations. The purple/green material has a cromaflair coating, so the color depends on how the light hits it.
