Leartes Studios: CO2 Sword

A couple of months ago @leartesstudios asked me if I wanted to help create a cyberpunk style melee weapons set. After some consideration due to my comfort zone telling me I can’t do anything but firearms, I accepted the challenge and went for it.

This sword, quickly dubbed ‘The Fart Sword’ was a lot of fun to make. The four thumbnails were going in all directions as I didn’t have a clear path or image in my head. The first one was very much derived from one of the knife ideas that wasn’t used; it would inject the poor enemy with CO2. The second was meant as some kind of EMP effect sword, which may sound cool but can’t really have a visual effect. The third one is a sword. And the fourth one would go the electrocution route. The team picked the fart sword and honestly I’m very satisfied with the final concept.

Here’s the description of the sword: 
We thought: “Why only stab your enemy when you can blow a cavity on the inside of him and freeze his internals?” Well, we got you covered. This sword, accurately nicknamed ‘The Impaler’ provides an extra layer of lethality due to its integrated CO2 expulsion system. Using it is extremely easy: after inserting and screwing the CO2 canister in the bottom of the handle it’s ready to use. Whenever you need to, just push the safety catch forward (there’s on on each side) and stab your enemy! Let your hands slide forward onto the guards, and you’ll easily press onto the gas release triggers. Trust us, your enemy won’t like it.
